The Republicans in the House proudly proclaim every day that " We control the purse !"
I agree, the Republicans have controlled the purse all year. They spent the money, they wrote the bills that authorized the expenditures and all the while proclaiming " We control the purse !"
Now that the bills have come due, the new mantra is " We won't pay the bills that we ran up unless the President negotiates !"
Millions of people realize the irony of this. The next time this happens the Democrats are ready to force more gun regulations, immigration reform, means testing of Social Security, higher taxes for oil companies and the wealthy, etc.
The Republicans would be passing out in the halls of congress.
