The House has submitted a budget,
The only thing holding up the budget is that Speaker John Boehner has refused to name conferees to a budget reconciliation conference.
FOR SIX MONTHS NOW !
And that ladies and gentlemen is the reason we have a Continuing Resolution !

GAUNTLET HITS GROUND WITH LOUD THUD

Now a word from me. 

If Speaker John Boehner does not allow a vote on a clean Continuing Resolution, it is absolute proof that he wants to keep the country hostage to the ideological demands of the Anarchist TEA Party.

We all realize that some Democrats may vote against the clean CR, but it is because they are already angry that they have given up to the Republican budget number and now the Anarchist TEA Party wants more cuts.

The only reason for the Continuing Resolution in the first place is that Speaker Boehner has refused for six months now to name conferees to a budget reconciliation conference.

So here we are on the brink of a worldwide financial storm and the kids are lying on the floor kicking and screaming.

" We will not vote on a clean CR and we will not increase the Debt Ceiling unless there are negotiations. "

INTERPRETATION :
" We will close down the government and allow the world economy to collapse unless our religious and ideological demands are met. "

MINISTERS AND PRIESTS, OH MY

The Republicans in the House today discovered that Ministers & Priests who are private contractors for the military have been furloughed. Surprise ! Oh snap ! Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-TN, just made the utterly outrageous claim that if they say the rosary or utter a prayer on base they would be arrested.
I cannot make this stuff up !

REOPENING THE GOVERNMENT A PIECE AT A TIME

According to my calculations, it will take Republicans 285 days to reopen the government under their current plan, a piece at a time. If you deduct holidays, 3 day weekends, vacations, recesses and working through the obfuscations, our government should be reopened in about two and a half years. That assumes we will not be under Anarchy by then.

I did make this one up, but it feels about right.

A MESSAGE FROM THE NATIONAL WIC ASSOCIATION

Call your U.S. Representative immediately and urge them to: oppose H J Res 75, the “Nutrition Assistance for Low-Income Women and Children Act” – a cynical ploy to use low-income nutritionally at-risk mothers and young children as political pawns for political ends.

Funding the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) in this piecemeal, short-term, stop-gap manner is not an acceptable solution. WIC has sufficient funds to operate through the month of October giving Congress more than sufficient time to pass a “clean” continuing resolution followed by the already marked-up full year FY-2014 House and Senate Agriculture Appropriations bills to fund WIC and the other critical child nutrition programs through the end of the 2014 fiscal year.

We urge Congress to end the uncertainty that exists in our fiscal environment and the already challenged lives of vulnerable mothers and young children by responsibly discharging and fulfilling its moral obligations to the nation. We will not tolerate efforts to leverage the nutritional health and well-being of pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, their babies, and young children to satisfy the political ends or strategies of policy-makers.

THE DOCTOR IS OUT TO LUNCH

In an interview with CNN this morning, Doctor & Republican Congressman Michael Burgess of Texas tried to comprehend the numbers. Data from 35 states & the Federal Government plus indications from many independent sources state that some 7,000,000 ( SEVEN MILLION ) people attempted to access the web sites for the Affordable Care Act open enrollment in only three days. Dr. burgess implied that the number would be MUCH LOWER if we deducted the Congress & their staff & reporters who tried to sign up.
So, here is my advice to a Dr. Burgess patient, CHECK YOUR MEDS !
